Colin is a productive and experienced naturalist, ecologist, and data analyst with exceptional skills in botany, lichenology, and GIS. He is also a research associate with the Canadian Museum of Nature, where he studies Canada’s plant and lichen diversity. He has 10+ years of experience leading and collaborating on dozens of successful field and desktop projects in eastern Canada. Past and present projects include: life science inventories, Species at Risk surveys, vegetation monitoring, various geospatial analyses, conservation assessments and status reports.

Botanical Inventories and Plant Identification
Multi-season site inventories, rapid inventories, species identification, and long-term vegetation monitoring. Tree identification and inventory.

Vegetation Community Assessment
Ecological Land Classification (ELC) and vegetation characterization and assessment using other standard methods and criteria. Wetland delineation and assessment.

Species at Risk Surveys
Targeted surveys for plant, animal, lichen, and other Species at Risk using standard protocols.

Geospatial Analysis
Analysis and visualization of complex data using a variety of applications, including the ArcGIS and AGOL suite, QGIS, R, Python. Conservation status assessments, species distribution models, natural features mapping.

Natural History Training
Ranging from general beginner concepts to advanced studies of challenging taxonomic groups.
